On Wednesday, 9/20/06, I took Ellen to the hospital. She was induced the following morning. After more than 12 hours of labor and still no baby, the doctor decided it was time for a c-section. After some hurried preparations, the surgery went off without a hitch.

Our son, Malcolm Alexander Ruddock, was born at 8:28 PM on Thursday September 21st. At birth he weighed 6 lbs and 13.3 ounces and was 19 inches long. He has brown eyes like his mother and blonde hair like his father. Mom is recovering very well and baby Malcolm is healthy and happy.

Welcome to our brand-new website. Ellen and I created this site for our friends and family as a way to keep in touch, share pictures, and have some fun. I’m not sure what we’ll write about, or how often we’ll update the blog, but feel free to read and comment on our posts as much as you wish. Also, if anyone in the family is interested in starting his or her own blog, we can host it for you.

Blogging is nice, but the main attraction here is our photo galleries. Check the links on the right-hand side of the page and you should see a whole category of links that lead into our gallery. Ellen and I both have a personal gallery, as well as a special one just for our wedding pictures. We have procured over 20 gigabytes of storage space for these galleries and we would love it if you would like to contribute. Everyone can have their own personal photo album hosted on this site that you can use to post whatever you wish. This is far, far superior to mass e-mailing your digital pictures, and unlike free services such as Kodak Gallery or Flickr, you can post high resolution photos. (The upper limit for a single file is over 4 megabytes.) Having your favorite family photos accessible on the internet (from work, or school, or a friend’s house) rivals sliced bread for convenience and will save you billions and billions of dollars in prints.

So at this point, you’re probably asking yourself, “Wow! Internet photo sharing is the cooler than Stretch Armstrong, but is that all this site is good for?” No way Jose, imarriedageek.com is much more than that. We can host:

Documents of any sort
Any type of file you may need to be online

What’s the catch? There is none. If it can be put on the “internets,” we’ll host it for you as long as it’s legal. Interested? Of course you are. Just contact Ellen or myself and we’ll set you up. We have plenty of space for everyone and we hope you participate and enjoy the site!
